North Carolina’s mobile sports betting market took a significant hit in April, with total revenue dropping 55.5% year-on-year, from $105.3 million in April 2024 to $46.8 million this year. The decline comes despite a 22.7% month-on-month increase from March’s $38.1 million, suggesting some short-term recovery amid broader market challenges.
The total betting handle reached $576.2 million in April, representing an 11.2% drop compared to the same month last year ($648.9 million) and a 15.9% decrease from March 2025 ($685 million).
On a positive note, tax revenue followed the monthly upward trend, climbing 22.7% to $8.4 million from $6.9 million in March, offering some reassurance for state coffers despite the annual decline in market performance.
Nevertheless, the big drop shows that North Carolina’s betting market is still new and needs time to grow in a steady way.
