The American Gaming Association (AGA), founded to promote, educate, and lobby on behalf of the gambling industry, reported 2024 financial results for the US gambling sector, highlighting revenues of US$71.92 billion. When compared to 2023, revenues for 2024 surpassed the previous high of $66.5bn by 7.5%. Moreover, Q4 2024 alone saw revenues of $18.62bn, an all-time single quarter revenue record, and a 6.2% increase compared to Q4 2023.

Land-based casinos generated $49.78 billion from slots and table games—a 0.82% increase from 2023. A total of 12 out of 17 states hit record highs. Sports betting also saw impressive growth, reaching $13.71 billion, up 25.4% year over year.

Meanwhile, the iGaming sector continued its rapid rise, generating $8.41 billion, a 28.7% increase from the previous year.

**AGA president and CEO Bill Miller commented:**

> “In 2024, Americans embraced the diverse legal gaming options available to them—whether in casinos, at sportsbooks, or online—leading to another record-setting year for our industry. As we build on this success, the AGA remains committed to fostering additional growth that benefits consumers, operators, and communities alike.”

Despite positive results, illegal gambling still remains a big concern for the country.

**Bill Miller added:**

> “Illegal operators cost legal operators $44.2 billion in gaming revenue and shorted state governments by $13.3 billion in lost tax revenue. They exploit consumer confusion between legal and illegal operators, run through regulatory loopholes, and threaten public trust in gaming.”

AGA is set to balance expansion with responsible gambling practices.
