### BC Game Revises Compliance Strategy Without Affecting Global Operations

On December 5th, BC Game announced a strategic decision to adjust its operations. This change, however, will not interfere with its international efforts, as the company holds distinct gaming licenses in multiple regions, though it has not specified these locations.

The decision follows a November court ruling that declared BC Game bankrupt due to unpaid player funds. The Curaçao Court of First Instance made this ruling after bankruptcy petitions were filed by The Foundation for the Representation of Victims of Online Gaming (SBGOK) in October.

BC Game has reassured its sponsorship associates, such as English Premier League club Leicester City, of its financial health, affirming it “has no liquidity issues.”

### Limited Legal Protections for Operators

On December 6th, BC Game expressed concerns about the inadequate legal protections for operators, prompting its withdrawal from the Curaçao market. Despite attempts to modernize, the protections, particularly bankruptcy laws dating back to the 1931 Curaçao Bankruptcy Decree, are insufficient and open to exploitation, the company stated.

BC Game emphasized the necessity of adapting to the evolving global regulatory landscape to ensure seamless operations and align with robust regulatory standards, thus enhancing user safety and reliability.

The company’s departure follows speculation about a potential revocation of its Curaçao license, despite receiving a new gambling license earlier this year in line with the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK), announced in July 2022. The group had praised this new licensing approach for its emphasis on transparency and eliminating sub-licensing.

### Addressing Financial Rumors

BC Game reiterated its stable financial condition in response to circulating rumors about its fiscal health. The company affirmed that its financial standing remains strong, and its global operations continue without disruption, fulfilling all legal and financial duties.

### Ongoing Challenges in Curaçao

BC Game’s exit coincides with claims of corruption in the island’s gambling license reform, opposed by Curaçao’s Gaming Control Board (GCB) last week. Luigi Faneyte, a member of Curaçao’s opposition Real Alternative Party, alleged that gambling licenses were granted without proper legal framework, causing financial detriments, and accused finance minister Javier Silvania of process corruption.

The GCB clarified its authority in granting and managing licenses, countering allegations of lacking legal jurisdiction. It dismissed money laundering claims, stating that licensing fees are deposited directly into an official government account.
