Betfred live in just one US state following Nevada exit

Betfred is now live in just one US state after shuttering its retail operations in Nevada as the UK-based operator teeters on the edge of a total exit.

The firm had been live in the Silver State with a retail sportsbook at the Mohegan Sportsbook at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

However, a statement on the Betfred US website confirmed that operations had come to an end in Nevada.

It is unclear when the sportsbook officially closed its doors, as the Mohegan Casino Las Vegas website still has a live page for the Betfred-powered offering.

The Betfred statement informed its customers to either visit the casino or follow mail in instructions on their betslips to cash in winning wagers.

Betfred added: “Any unsettled wagers placed at the Mohegan Sportsbook will be settled as the events occur. For all such winning wagers patrons should follow the above redemption instructions.

“For any questions or concerns, please contact Betfred player experience by email.”

Betfred’s Las Vegas sportsbook opened its doors in February 2023, with an launch ceremony involving former Cincinnati Bengals star Elbert “Ickey” Woods.

The exit from Nevada comes swiftly after Betfred also closed its retail business in Washington at the Silver Reef Casino Resort.

The bookmaker is now live in Pennsylvania only, with an online and retail operation ongoing.

The firm continues to power the sportsbook at Wind Creek Bethlehem and its iOS and Android app. A desktop offering is also still available.

In June 2024, Betfred was live in 10 US states before its mass exit process began, with Maryland becoming the first market to fall in July.

Then, in August, operations came to an end in Ohio and Colorado, with CEO Kresimir Spajic telling EGR at the time that a total US exit could be on the table.

Online sports betting departures from Arizona, Virginia and Iowa soon followed, with a retail exit from Louisiana also confirmed.

Washington was struck from operations just before Christmas.

Betfred has struggled to carve out meaningful market share since heading into the US in 2019.
