SBObet’s parent company, Celton Manx, has voluntarily surrendered its Isle of Man gambling licence.

Valid from 1 August 2008, the licence was given up on 9 May 2025 according to the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission’s (GSC) website, with the firm now placed in the regulator’s former online gambling licence holder section.

Celton Manx CEO Bill Mummery confirmed to EGR that “we voluntarily surrendered our licence to the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission effective C.O.B. Friday 9 May 2025”.

Outside of SBObet, the operator’s brands include SBOtop and SBObeteu – which all no longer present the Isle of Man licence crest on their websites.

However, SBObet’s LinkedIn page still states that the website “operates in both Asia and Europe, with its European operations fully licensed by the Isle of Man” as of the time of writing, 13 May 2025.

The operator fell out of the EGR 2024 Power 50 rankings, despite being placed 26th the year prior.

SBOtop is currently front-of-shirt sponsor for Premier League outfit Fulham, having previously sponsored Leeds United from 2020 to 2023, coinciding with the time the club presided in England’s top-flight.

EGR has contacted Fulham for comment.

Last month the GSC appointed Nicola Libreri as its new deputy CEO, who had been part of the organisation in some capacity since 2018.

Libreri stepped up to the role vacated by Mark Rutherford, who took on the role of CEO in January replacing previous chief Steve Brennan.
