Industry stalwart Iris den Boer has joined gambling-related harm awareness and education charity Deal Me Out as head of external affairs.

Den Boer brings more than a decade of responsible gambling experience to her new role, which she has begun with immediate effect. Would it be better to have a date here?

Her most recent position was a year-long stint as Betnation’s chief corporate social responsibility (CSR) officer from January 2024 until last month.

Prior to that, Den Boer spent just over two years at Dutch operator BetCity between January 2022 and January 2024 as head of responsible gaming research and development.

In her final 12 months at the company, she also served as BetCity’s legal representative for addiction prevention policy.

Den Boer also spent two years with Kaizen Gaming as the group’s responsible gaming manager.

Her longest stint to date was at Kindred Group, where she spent over four years in the responsible gaming (RG) team.

Den Boer took to LinkedIn to confirm the news and shed further light on her new role.

She wrote: “I’m thrilled to share that I’m joining Deal Me Out, where I’ll be shaping an advanced social strategy to further amplify this organisation’s incredible impact.

“It is a true honour to stand alongside a team so deeply committed to education around safer gambling. Deal Me Out’s programmes are both powerful and essential, creating lasting societal change by reaching children and supporting adults alike.”

Den Boer also touched on Deal Me Out’s future aims, adding: “Together, we are driving towards a sustainable future with increased awareness and support for those affected by gambling harm and loss of control.

“I am humbled to be part of this movement and excited to contribute to its growth, development and strategic initiatives.”

On her relevant expertise to EGR, Den Boer noted: “I have worked in CSR so an organisation such as Deal Me Out is a logical next step and a good fit.

“With a large network, deep knowledge on the topic and a passion for player protection and safer gambling education I am super grateful to apply all qualities towards something meaningful.

“I look forward to helping make a social impact in the gambling world.”

Deal Me Out CEO Jordan Lea said: “We are extremely pleased to have Iris on board, her experience from within the industry and her passion for prevention is unrivalled. Research, education and treatment is extremely lucky to have her expertise.”
