The Netherlands Online Gambling Association’s (NOGA) interim managing director, Eric Konings, will step down from his role at the trade body in March.
Konings, who has been in the post since July 2024, confirmed he would be leaving the trade body to pursue other opportunities.
He will officially step down on 1 March.
In July, Konings was drafted in to replace outgoing managing director Peter-Paul de Goeij, after having been a policy adviser to the group since January 2022.
He had also served as the trade body’s chair between January 2018 and December 2021.
The departing Konings previously spent more than nine years with Kindred Group across a series of roles and was a board member for the International Betting Integrity Association between 2019 and 2021.
Konings has said he is open to consultancy work following his departure, with the Dutchman having operated his Rosendale Business Consultancy alongside his role with NOGA.
NOGA confirmed the trade body’s board would now consider its future and the “interpretation of the directorship” following Konings’ exit.
Speaking following his departure, Konings said: “I have enjoyed fulfilling the role of interim director at NOGA during this important period of strategic reorientation.
“Now that this reorientation is progressing steadily, I have decided not to renew my contract. I am proud of what we have achieved together and will continue to work for NOGA’s goals until my last day. For now, I would like to thank the board for the trust they have placed in me.”
Sanna van Doorn, NOGA vice-chair, added: “We are very grateful to Eric for his efforts over the past seven years, in the capacity of successively chairman, policy adviser and interim director.
“His involvement and expertise in this challenging sector were of great value. Eric has played an important role in the creation of NOGA and representing the interests of its members over the years.
“On behalf of the board and our members, I would like to thank him and wish Eric all the best in his future projects and ambitions.”
Konings’ exit comes amid significant upheaval in the Dutch market, which is set to see tax on GGR spike to 37.8% by January 2026.
MPs in the country are also pushing for a ban on advertising and slots, while tombola and LiveScore Bet have both shuttered their Dutch operations.
