Brazil-based betting operator Alfa Entertainment will launch its product in the market on 3 February to ensure full compliance, CEO Arthur Silva tells iGB@ICE.

Alfa Entertainment was one of just 14 companies to receive a full licence ahead of Brazil’s legal market launch on 1 January. Given its early mover advantage, Silva expects Alfa Entertainment to gain a competitive edge over others.

He also highlights increased operational costs due to regulations, which have squeezed local operators.

“I think the number [of licences given] sends a message. If it was easy we would have 200 operators on the same list because Brazil is definitely a very attractive market,” Silva tells host Katie Goldfinch.

“Considering all the struggles the other operators are going through because of all the requirements, I think we are in a better position right now.”

Only a handful were granted full betting licences in Brazil at the turn of the year, Alfa Entertainment was one of those and expects to gain early mover advantage. CEO Arthur Silva discusses the selective regulatory process and Alfa’s plans.
