MGM Resorts International has announced its president and CEO Bill Hornbuckle has committed his short-term future to the company via a fresh three-year contract.

Hornbuckle has entered a new employment contract with the BetMGM parent company which will run until December 2028.

Part of the agreement has seen MGM offer Hornbuckle an advisory agreement at the end of the contract term, whereby he will assist with the company’s integrated resort project in Osaka, Japan until its opening.

MGM Paul Salem said: “Bill is an exceptional, visionary leader who successfully guided the company through the Covid-19 pandemic while also positioning the business for long-term growth through new digital ventures, strategic M&A opportunities and expansion into new international markets.

“Bill has earned the trust, respect and admiration of his employees, peers, shareholders and this board. We’re thrilled that he has agreed to remain in his role for the foreseeable future.”

Hornbuckle first joined the operator in the late 90s in an initial capacity as president and COO.

Following a brief stint as acting CEO between March and July 2020, he took up the position full time from July 2020 onwards.

He also concurrently serves as the chair of the US Travel Association, following on from a previous role as chair of the US Travel and Tourism Advisory Board.

Speaking about the new agreement, Hornbuckle added: “I am honoured to continue leading this company at an exciting time of both digital growth and resort expansion in places like New York, Japan, Brazil and the Middle East.

“Our best days remain in front of us, and I’m thankful to our board for their continued trust and support.

“The success we’ve enjoyed over the last five years is a testament to our leadership team and our employees who have embraced our culture of guest-centricity and continuous improvement.

“Together, we will continue to pursue our vision to be the world’s premiere gaming entertainment company.”

Last month, MGM Digital, which encompasses LeoVegas Group, recorded revenue of $128.1m for the first quarter of 2025, which remained flat when compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

In contrast, the company’s JV with Entain, BetMGM, generated revenue of $657m, up 34% year-on-year.
