Nevada Sets New Gaming Revenue Record in 2024

The Nevada Gaming Control Board’s latest financial update shows that the state recorded total gaming revenue of $15.6 billion in 2024, a new annual record.

The $15.61 billion recorded was a 0.55% increase year over year compared to 2023’s data. Gaming revenue recorded for the final quarter of calendar year 2024 (October through December) was $4.06 billion. 

The number of licensees that reported results across the year was 454, with 436 submitting data for December.

Slot machines were Nevada’s primary revenue driver in 2024, generating $10.52 billion, or 67.3% of total gaming revenue. This represented a yearly growth of 2.27%. The average win percentage across all denominations was 7.2%.  

The NGCB reported that there were 127,176 slot machines across the Silver State. 

Multi-Denomination Slots Surge as Single-Denomination Machines Decline

A breakdown by slot machine denomination shows a move from specific-denomination slots to multi-denomination machines:

  • 1-Cent Slots generated $2.37 billion, down 24.87% year-over-year;
  • 5-Cent Slots revenue was $35.3 million, a decrease of 17% when compared to 2023;
  • 25-Cent Slots dropped 17.86% to $180.6 million in revenue in 2024;
  • $1 Slots also fell by 17.26%, recording $528.0 million for 2024;
  • $5 Slots saw the most significant year-over-year fall by percentage, with a 24.78% decrease to $52.9 million;
  • $25 Slots generated $17.7 million, a decrease of 22.51% from 2023’s figure;
  • $100 slots reported the most minor decrease in single-denomination slots, dropping 8.72% to $29.1 million in revenue for 2024
  • Multi Denomination slots rose 19.77%, generating $7.15 billion of all slot-based revenue in 2024. 

Slot machine revenue was 73.6% of the renowned Las Vegas Strip’s gaming revenue in 2024. 

Within table games, Blackjack generated $1.34 billion in revenue, up 1.07% year-over-year. Baccarat generated slightly more, with $1.39 billion, but this was a 6.33% decrease in 2023’s reported revenue. Roulette revenue also decreased by 4.39%. 

Nevada sports betting revenue stagnated, only increasing by 0.17% yearly to $482 million. The channel shift continued in Nevada, with mobile sports betting driving 59.3% of the state’s total GGR. The $285.8 million mobile sports betting revenue increased by 18.82% yearly. 

Basketball betting revenue was the most significant compared to American football, baseball, and hockey, rising 14.3% year over year to $152.5 million. Baseball reported the most significant decrease, down 22.9% to $71.8 million for 2024.
