Sky Bet took the golf clickshare crown in April as Masters fever gripped betting markets with Rory McIlroy making history at Augusta, according to the latest data from oddschecker.

The Flutter-owned brand secured a clickshare of 12.7% on all golf markets last month, ahead of bet365 in second with 11.5%.

Oddschecker said Sky Bet’s “generous place terms offering and oddschecker golf takeover” allowed it to snare the top spot.

The affiliate said that bet365’s number one position on the oddschecker grid and strong player base helped push it into a strong position, although not enough to overtake Sky Bet.

However, the Stoke-on-Trent-based firm did see its betshare rise by 1.3 percentage points compared to March.

AK Bets managed to snap up the final podium place with a clickshare of 7.2%, thanks to the challenger brand’s “generous pricing”.

AK Bets also saw the largest increase in overall clickshare, up 3.5 percentage points versus March, and an 83% leap in acquisition.

McIlroy was the most popular selection on oddschecker, taking 7.7% of all betslip clicks in the outright winner market for the Masters.

The Northern Irishman duly paid back the backing, winning a play-off against Justin Rose to become the first golfer since Tiger Woods in 2000 to secure a grand slam.

Staying with golf, oddschecker also reported those operators that outperformed on golf clickshare compared to all sports.

As such, BetVictor’s golf clickshare of 6.5% was 3.2 percentage points above its site-wide average. VBET’s 4.5% clickshare was also 3.1 percentage points higher than its small 1.4% overall share.

Record registrations

Looking back at March, the oddschecker team said it was a record breaking month as it delivered more registrations to its bookmaker partners than any other month in its history.

There was a 112% month on month leap in registrations versus February and a 64% YoY increase against March 2024.

This was driven by “enhanced SEO performance and optimised site conversion which extended our lead as the most organically visible brand in the industry”, according to oddschecker.

Then, in April, there was a record high deposit frequency among among oddschecker affiliated customers.

Oddschecker said: “The surge was fuelled by a strong focus on retention, as operators leaned heavily into boosts and fresh promotions to keep users active throughout April’s packed sporting calendar.

“This helped sustain elevated user activity across major events, from Aintree to the Premier League run-in.”

Elsewhere, April’s registration to first time depositor percentage sat at 68%, with kwiff the best-performing operator with 93%.

Finally, at The Grand National, Constitution Hill was once against the most-backed horse despite his fall at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

However, backers were shaken again after a tumble in the William Hill Aintree Hurdle, allowing Lossiemouth to sweep to victory.

On The Grand National, oddschecker noted: “Bettors were clearly on the hunt for value in The Grand National, with Stumptown (10/1), Vanillier (12/1), Hewick (14/1) and Intense Raffles (14/1) making up the second to fifth most-backed runners on oddschecker. Favourite Iroko (13/2) followed in sixth.

“However, this all came in vain as Willie Mullins made Grand National history with a remarkable 1-2-3-5-7 finish. His amateur son Patrick Mullins rode Nick Rockett (33/1) to victory, following the recent trend of favourable results in The Grand National for bookmakers.”
